School Admissions in US

In US, admission to a public school is so easy. Based on where (which county) you live, you will be assigned to a public school within the School District. You are guaranteed admission to that public school. No text books to buy, since it is paid by the State. Yes, there is a supply list, which is published long before the school opens. So parents do not need to rush to get the stuff just the day before school reopens( however most parents does it only on the last date :)). You could even order it thru the school, if you don't want to go thru the hassle of shopping for supplies. All you need to do, is to go to the school, submit the application and the relevant documents ( mainly the immunization reports, proof of address - which could be a utility bill) and your child is ready to attend the school!

That was the flashback.. Now what does it take to get admission for your kids in a school in Kerala? The process is long, that it would take another post to describe. Will follow soon...

Yep -- the process of admission is totally different here, but definitely we have many good schools in the state.

Btw, switched to a new blog?

haha this is just the beginning. Atleast nowadays the more elite institutions are more systematic. But generally, be prepared....u go anywhere, there is red tape or bribe or donation or some such thing:-)
